I had never heard of this one before. The way the story goes, after Topps bought Bowman, they took excess products of both Power for Peace and Radio & TV Stars and combined them into individual cello packs and rack packs. This was also done with US Navy Victories and Sports issues too.
Super rare and you saw it here first!
Interestingly, the summer 2024 REA auction has a full box of this!
Lot Description: Incredible original unopened cello box of 1953 Bowman "TV & Radio Stars" and "Power For Peace" cards. The box houses thirty-six cello packs, with each pack containing a mixture of cards from the two different sets. This is the first such configuration that we recall seeing. This is a complete 71-year-old cello box that somehow miraculously escaped opening. The box comes shrink-wrapped by Baseball Card Exchange (owned by Steve Hart, the foremost expert on unopened material). This tremendous unopened cello box, which looks as it did when it sat on a candy-store shelf in 1953, would make an incredible addition to even the most advanced nonsport or unopened-box collection. Opening Bid $1,500.
