Dear New Members (and old members too),
Over the past few months, we have been trying to sort card packs into groupings of relative scarcity ranging from common to ultra rare. Now is a good time for us to pause and review how we've done so far.
You can view the choices so far by reviewing the drop down menus under the Scarcity heading above.
Are we on the right track? What do you think? Do you disagree with any of our picks? Remember, this is based on relative availability and not necessarily price (although the two can be related)!
Let's have an argument!
One thing I might suggest, is putting numbers on levels. Back when I used to collect comic books (decades ago) the Overstreet guide defined scarcity levels... if I remember rightly, Rare was less than 20 known copies (don’t quote me on the numbers!), scarce was less than 100 copies, etc. Defining the levels takes some of the guesswork out of the equation.
Another one:
Should 1964 Topps Hot Rods (black wrapper) go from scarce to rare?
So far:
Fleer Beautiful People moves to limited
Topps 1959 Funny Monsters moves to Ultra rare
Topps Slob stickers moves to rare
I'll go ahead and move these.
I'll put the Look N' See 5 cent on the next grouping
Lonnie, what do you think about Who Am I?
Any other suggestions?
Fleer beautiful people should drop a class in my opinion.
I'm wondering if Who Am I? and Slob Stickers should move up from scarce to rare.
Actually I've never seen Funny Monsters OR Look n' See 1 cent before!
Look n see one cent could maybe drop a class. I remember a discussion about that pack when you originally posted it, but can’t remember the basis for slotting it that high.
I’ll start... I think the Topps 1959 “Funny Monsters” 5 cent pack should be in the Ultra Rare section. Unless I’ve just missed them, I’ve never seen a pack for sale and wrappers are even rarer than rare!
