Interested in some opinions on what you guys and gals consider a wax pack. For me I always consider something that has anything besides just candy or gum in the pack. It could be cards, buttons, stickers, toy, etc. While I do have a few packs such as this Topps Lotsa Loot in my collection, I don’t necessarily consider it a non sport pack.

I started collecting packs in 1988 when I realized that a local store had an incredible collection of packs for sale and it seemed like an interesting thing to save. I kept up with them for a while - buying them right out of the boxes but around 1991 or 1992 the manufacturers switched to plastic or mylar wrapped packs instead of wax paper. I tried to keep up for a while but finally decided that too many were coming out and decided to stick to wax paper packs and to limit the collection to pre- 1992 wax packs only.
I think that a pack has to have a card or sticker to make it a true wax pack and not just novelty gum.
I'm not sure about toys - ie mini model cards (Topps 1975) or the various model airplane issues. Dit they even have gum in them? On the other hand, I have been collecting the various button packs which don't have gum mostly because of the neat graphics.
Lotsa Loot is a neat pack that I haven't seen before but I would group it with novelty candy instead of card packs. Question: does OPC Ton 'O' Gum (1975) have a card inside?
